Horne rocks! He needs to tour this area and get his name out here. We support our troops but not this damn war! GO HORNE!

Andrew Horne doesn't know Harlan from Hyden, Shack!

He's got zero record supporting coal, zero record on supporting education, and zero record on bringing home infrastructure. Mitch McConnell's brought home millions to the region.

There's no way he's going to beat by a slow talking Louisville lawyer who's only political experience involved being trounced by John Yarmuth.

The reaction I received from a couple of elected officials was hostility towards McConnell. I will say that I even expected a yawn and a sigh, but I got something totally different. It is up to Horne to capitalize on this.

I bet they won't let you qoute them. They'll moan and cry the way they always do, but they know the fruits of McConnell's labors and won't go out on a limb against the Sr. Senator.

As for Bunning, he got caught napping against a very skilled new pol. McConnell won't make that mistake and Horne ain't knew. He got shellacked in the 3rd last time around. What makes you think he's improved?

What the hell has McConnell done for Harlan? or Bell? Nothing.

I never qoute these guys, but I will start asking. Call around Jonathan and judge the reaction you get. Horne's name ID is a bit low but Mitch seems to be in a ditch, at least in Dec of 07 hes rutting.

Why don't you go ask the coal operators who employ so many folks from Harlan and Bell County what Mitch McConnell has done for the region's biggest industry. Ask them who they'd rather have representing them if Hillary becomes President and Gore energy czar.

Look around and tell me what Mitch McConnell has done for Eastern Kentucky? Tell me! McConnell has expected our votes in the past and given nothing back. Our schools still suck. We do not have the amount of rich people that McConnell and Bush love. Look at AndrewHorne.org. I like this guy!

Leslie County:

Why don't you ask Kenn Whitt and Onzie Sizemore and Jim Lewis what MM has done for the county. Bet you'll be surprised.

60-40 MM....

Not to take anything away from the new Lt. Gov, but he wasn't all that skilled in the ‘04 Senate race. Sen. Bunning was very bad and kept Mongairdo in the race until he got his sea legs. He is much better now and will give Bunning a real race in 2010.

That said, don't expect the same mistakes from Sen. Mitch. Col. Horne will have to work VERY hard and hope for some lucky breaks or more Bush-Bungles.

I don't know how good the LT G was in 04.. he seemed to come out of nowhere and those races are tough w/out resources.

But I do know that he was probably the best candidate in the field this past cycle among the four candidates for Guv/Lt Guv. I know my fellow conservatives won't like to hear that, but Dan Mongiardo really impressed me. He has a bright future ahead of him, particularly here at the state level where retail politics matters so much.

As for the closing, I agree totally... there'll have to be a major shift for this one to open.

3:21 no chance bunning will run again.

Talk all you want, but Trey Grayson will be your next Senator, replacing Bunning. No one can beat Grayson and McConnell.

I saw Sen. Bunning over the summer and he looked as if he had recently had a face-lift or botox. Looked to me like someone gearing up to run to me.

4:56 > If an amateur like Bruce Hendrickson can hold his own against him we have about a half a dozen people that could spank him in a Senate race. Your boy Trey has never had a race against an A List democrat.

Shack:

I'd forgotten about our exchange last week. I blogged the answer to your question: what the hell has Mitch McConnell done for Bell County on my site.

The short answer is: protect Cumberland Gap and ensure the drinking water of Bell County.

Not bad, I think.

Mr. Hillbilly: Sorry to rain on your Mitch parade, but the Cumberland Gap Tunnel project started while Mitch was still dodging military service. I will grant you that he didn’t get in the way, but if you ask people in BC who gets the credit they will tell you Hal.

Mitch hasn't done jack about the water situation in Middlesboro, but make it worse. There has been nothing but a few press events that lead everyone to believe that the National Park has bought Fern Lake, but they have not and the owner is so angry at getting jerked around he’s ready to sell to anybody but! That so called $1.9 million is at least $5.1 million short of the sale price. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

Want to buy it? Here’s a link to the realtors web site: http://www.realtynetworktn.com

What Mitch has done for Bell County is send a field rep to every gathering of more than 6 people to create the illusion that he cares and is doing something. He also visits once every two years or so. This guy is a great politician, one of the best, but he is horrid for the poor counties of eastern KY.
