It seems in the new decade after 2010 we are moving backwards not forward. We are not advancing in our attempt to provide equal rights for others. Case in Point; Florence Kentucky is making waves nation-wide when it was exposed that Female Police Officer Lyndi Trischler has filed a federal discrimination complaint against the City of Florence.
A change in policy, by some prick with a pen, is now forcing this young pregnant woman back out on the streets on full duty status or she can simply quit.
The city always had a policy that only employees injured on the job were eligible for modified duty, according to an internal memo. It had previously made exceptions to that policy, including for Trischler's first pregnancy last year.
In April 2013, the city stopped allowing those exceptions. The memo doesn't say why, just that employees with disabilities not incurred on the job must take sick, vacation or unpaid leave if they can't perform their jobs.
Trischler and her attorneys believe the change was made in response to her first pregnancy. They have filed a federal discrimination complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, accusing the city of violating both the Americans With Disabilities Act and the Pregnancy Discrimination Act. OK Alison Lundergan Grimes; where are you at miss equal rights? Where you at??? Nowhere to be found. It is typical that Officer Trischler is abandoned by those who proclaim to be champions of whatever cause they're blowing about. However, Officer Trischler's fellow Officers have donated 160 vacation time to her while she fights these backward bums in Florence.
This is infuriating and we call on Mayor Diane E. Whalen and Police Chief John McDermond to RESIGN IMMEDIATELY. No speeches, no excuses, just resign because they're clearly not fit for the positions they hold in the City government. How in the hell can you let this situation get to this level? Well, its Kentucky and anything is possible.
And we're not shutting up about this either, something will happen.
