Unless Republican candidate James Comer is caught in bed with a live boy or a dead girl, old political saying people calm down, then I think it is a safe bet that the GOP will take back the mansion in 2016, the 4th GOP governor since WWII, so it's kind of a big deal.
Former Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo (D) told supporters months ago that he would not make a decision to run, or not run, until after the U.S. Senate race. Well, I kind of wish he would have just jumped into the pool months ago seeing that all the grandstanding on the part of Democrats in Kentucky, and abroad, did absolutely no good. It was a complete waste of time.
Now we wait, hopefully not for long, to see if Daniel Mongiardo will take on Jack Conway or, in my mind, concede the Governor's mansion to the Republicans in 2015. We must also be conscious to the fact that Mongiardo will be at a major disadvantage in fundraising compared to Conway. Mongiardo would be down $1.5 mil just after the new year, unless Dr. Dan has an epic 4Q in fundraising, if he decides to run.
