The history of this blog has been colorful, controversial and informative. I have came and went throughout the 5 year history of The Rural Democrat. I have quit out of boredom, frustration and anger. The Rural Democrat has, for the most part, laid dormant since the defeat of Daniel Mongiardo in the 2010 Democratic Primary for U.S. Senate.
The Kentucky Democratic Party has changed drastically over the last decade, it has, as predicted, moved to the Left of Center on many different subjects and issues. Our Blue-Dog identity has, for the most part, been annihilated by the more Liberal/Progressive element within the party. Mongiardo represented the first major coal supporting Democratic candidate to lose a statewide primary. Historically the coal backed candidate wins those elections but the Louisville candidate made it to the second round, that being Jack Conway, and was spanked by Rand Paul. By playing the silly entitlement/jealousy game the Democratic Party in Kentucky essentially elected a GOP candidate as Mongiardo would have likely defeated the extreme Paul.
That is just one reason in many why I have declared that I cannot continue to support Party backed Democratic candidates in Kentucky. Only 3 potential future Democrtaic candidates would receive my backing and support. Those candidates being; Daniel Mongiardo, Jonathan Miller and John Y. Brown III.
But I would like The Rural Democrat to continue. So that is why I am offering to allow an outside group to run the day to day operations of The Rural Democrat. With little to no supervision. The Rural Democrat has received 1,740,600 hits with no advertising. We have an amazing Google search ranking and the potential is there for someone. So if you are interested in running the blog please contact me at theruraldemocrat@gmail.com.
