Here we go again; So-called Christians being uneducated, arrogant, and misguided. As Christianity deteriorates around the country most "lukewarm" Christians find themselves conflicted as the ridicule resulting from man's feeble attempt to interpret the Bible threatens to drive them out of the faith. As we all know, the liberal media will jump on anything that embarrasses Christianity. We can find evidence of this in the reporting of the Koran burning pastor in Florida, Terry Jones. The media should have completely ignored this so-called church of a flock of 30 who carry guns to service but it was a story that sold and sold big. The sad part of that story is the fact that dozens around the world died because of the outrage fueled by the American media, so in spirit, the media and Terry Jones are responsible for these deaths.
A comment on a popular Liberal Kentucky blog, who identify themselves as atheist, motivated me to write this article. The comment revealed the truth behind the mistranslation within the King James Version of the Holy Bible that pertains to Unicorns. As most Kentuckians know by now a Noah's Ark theme park is under development and the Commonwealth of Kentucky has pledged millions in tax breaks for the venture. But the misguided claims of the inclusion of unicorns, dinosaurs and dragons (the flying fire breathing type) on Noah's Ark is yet another thorn in the side for all Christians. Christians that would love to see a full size replica of Noah's Ark, but, have to wash their hands in disgust as the creationist argument within Christianity has spoiled the day yet again.
Why should Christians wash their hands of this? Because the main thrust of the argument between creationist Christians and the world in general is the age of the Earth, and mythical creatures that "appear" to be mentioned in the Bible. Christians should in no way shape or form be concerned about the age of the earth, unicorns, dragons or dinosaurs on Noah's Ark. They should be concerned about their fellow man and his well-being.
We all to often find ourselves embroiled in arguments surrounding these questions while we should be doing God's work abroad. The Ark Encounter theme park is slated to spend tens of millions of dollars so a few misguided so-called Christians can prove a point, a point that has NO place in Christianity.
Dragons in the Bible? Dragons are indeed mentioned in the Bible, but the context in which they are mentioned is often ignored, especially by creationist Christians. Dragons in the Bible are simply snakes, other venomous creatures, or Satan himself. It is not out of the question that early Hebrews, or other ancient peoples, discovered dinosaur remains and thus the dragon was born. The mythical Chinese dragon did not exist within the Hebrew Bible.
Unicorns in the Bible? The Hebrew word for unicorn is "reem" that translates to a wild oxen, wild cow, or rhino. It is a mystery why the Hebrew word for reem was translated to unicorn (the one horned flying horse type). In Deuteronomy 33:17 we find that the "reem", or unicorn, has multiple horns.
His glory is like the firstling of his bullock, and his horns are like the horns of unicorns: with them he shall push the people together to the ends of the earth: and they are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and they are the thousands of Manasseh.
Also in Psalm 22:21 unicorns are mentions as having multiple horns.
Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
So why do some so-called Christians accept the mistranslation and utter ridiculousness of the one horned flying horse? First; ignorance, second; stubbornness.
This man-made controversy is in no way and should not be considered a part of the Christian faith, but in today's world, it's not only a part of it, it represents a large contingent of the faith. It is a complete abomination that a few wealthy, and political, so-called Christians can spend tens of millions of dollars to put dinosaurs on the Ark because they are absolutely certain the earth is only 5 or 6 thousand years old. How do they reach these ridiculous conclusions? The creationist Christians have become smarter than their God. I must stress that the term creationist Christian, in my opinion, means those who believe the earth is only 5 thousand years old and insist that dinosaurs, dragons and unicorns were all included on Noah's Ark. Also, they make these arguments the center of their Christian faith and will fight to the death if any of these conclusions are questioned.
At the end of the day the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter theme park are an abomination to Christians everywhere because it focuses on things that are of man and not the Bible. Everything made of man, being actual structures or traditions, will eventually be destroyed. So Christians everywhere should go out unto the world to help your fellow man in the name of God our Father and Jesus Christ, do not participate in the construction of another empire of dirt.
As we watch this debacle unfold, we can't help but wonder; how can this represent our faith in any way? The mainstream church have traditionally been socially and politically corrupt, and the world has taken notice. Again, things made of man, especially deceit including Holy Scripture, will be exposed and crumble.
We can cast blame on many for this situation. First; the responsibility lies with the folks who started the project to begin with. Second; we can blame a politically bruised Governor for his impotent attempt to appeal to Kentucky Christians. This was a feeble attempt to atone for his political sin of calling the Christmas Tree (which is pagan in origin) to holiday tree in 2009.
We are watching the decay of the foundation of the Christian Church, a decay accelerated by the political arm of the Church. World politics now outweighs scripture within the decision making apparatus of our Christian Church. That is nothing new, but now the world is questioning their dominance of our faith. With knowledge being unlimited in today's world the organizations who have kept their subjects dumb throughout the centuries are being abandoned. Politics within the church is a cancer, a malignant growth that should be destroyed before it rots the entirety of the Christian faith.
Hopefully this Ark Encounter theme park can find a place within Biblical Christianity. As of today it has no place because it's focus is entirely centered around the immaterial and ignores the things that are Holy. And lastly; God is science, those mechanisms he created. Why should we judge the Judge?
As Christians endure yet another national embarrassment we must take charge of ourselves. We should reject those who "use" the faith for earthly gain and IGNORE those who use the faith for political gain.
