The Lexington Herald Leader sums up their endorsement of Jack Conway in one phrase.
Except, unfortunately, where coal is concerned. There, each seems more than willing to put the interests of coal ahead of some of the state's more pressing environmental needs. LINK
The anti-coal, anti-Kentucky sentiment of the Lexington Herald Leader was the deciding factor in picking Conway over Mongiardo.
We all know, without a doubt, that Jack Conway, behind the scenes, supports Cap-and-Trade. His $5 million investment in natural gas confirms Conway's support for the passage of Cap-and-Trade. Conway would stand to make tens of millions of dollars when Cap-and-Trade forces coal offline. So it is ridiculous of Jack Conway to claim he supports coal when his future is invested in the demise of coal.
But quite mysteriously the Herald Leader "says" their endorsement for Conway was because of his achievements yet they fail to mention even one. The endorsement may come back to bite Conway in the rear. The Herald Leader's bias toward coal is front and center for all of their readership to see. Finally
Thank you for helping me make my decision. I am definitely behind Jack Conway. He seems to be a candidate thinking of the future for my children and grandchildren. Supporting Cap and Trade is a no brainer, and clean coal is a joke. We need to be educated and throw our resources behind alternative energy sources before it's too late. Education is a wonderful thing.
