I can't say for certain what happened here, but part of the problem might be this last second rush to pass legislation. They are there for a whole session, and then midnight the last day they try to pass everything

Isn't this kinda of harsh after all the things that he has done for the area? Can he ever bring that score up? I believe there is more to the story and until then, I will give him a C with a chance for extra credit..

What has he done? I can not recall one thing and don't say getting this or that paid for with coal severance money. That is our money if he exists or not.

Write it down in your diary, Rick Nelson will never be defeated. This joke of a trick played last week should go down in the books as one of the best political hit jobs ever. Rick is trustworthy, and he trusts his friends, until they turn on him. He made a terrible mistake, but he will not make one like that again. Everything is going to turn out all right as for the funding for the bridge to nowhere in Bell County. Keep watching your newspapers, who are all on outside payrolls. Here is what to look for. Senator Smith, with the help of Judge Albey Brock, have teamed up with Senator Williams to bring back a special vote for the Bridge to nowhere, which might be a bridge to somewhere in about thirty years. Anyway, these miracle workers will get the credit for this project, and they will also never let this story leave the eyes of the public.
Nelson will simply have to keep going with his hard work. P.S. Most people in the state might be surprised to find that most people in Bell County care not to see the completion of the somewhere to go from the bridge. Sorry to burst your big story.

If he is pissed for getting blistered because he made a horrible mistake that cost our region much needed jobs, let him be pissed. He has an opportunity to explain himself. If you are serious about your last sentence in your comment; you and the others that don't want that project completed are politically blinded fools or idiots, take your pick.

There will be no industry on the other end of that bridge until the schools are better and there is a change in attitudes against all things management. I've had people who are in small business tell me they have considered moving to Eastern Kentucky but then dismissed it because of the reputation of rancor between labor and management which has always existed. So this particular person just went elsewhere. "If you build it they will come" might work in "Field of Dreams" but until we address some of the macro issues which plague us we are dreaming. Poor schools, trash everywhere, relatively poor medical care relative to other parts of the state, drug problems, idiotic local governments. Need I go on?

Another reason that the people don't want the project is that they are like a bunch of monkeys in a zoo. The people of that region still act like most of them are, in-bred. I know that about three years ago, Pineville had a moist vote, like Corbin has. It passed, and the Mayor there was able to get a developer to sign contracts for an ultra nice hotel, like nothing else in the whole region. It would have brought many jobs and visitors to the City. That mayor was ran out of office because the people there blamed him for the moist vote passing. They were not then and still are not educated or mentally advanced enough to have legal alcohol like the more socially advanced cities like Corbin or Richmond. Middlesboro is just as bad. All the people are so backward, we prefer to live in Harrogate, Tennessee. My high school
children are good kids, and they are very intelligent and safe. Beer and wine are sold here, but we are sophisticated enough to tolerate and live with reality. By the way, most of the Pineville crowd hang out over here in a couple of the taverns. I also have a friend that owns a beer store, and he says that a great amount of his business comes from Pineville and Middlesboro.

This area is thick with the haves and the have nots and the haves dont want the have nots to ever have anything. Work in my mines and pump my gas and shut up. I predict a revolution in few short years. I know Rick Nelson and like him but I am mad as hell about this.

1111, you may be closer to the truth than anyone. If the government don't stop its panering to the elite and wealthy only, there may very well be an uprising as never has been seen before. People are tired of the haves having. The have nots work their asses off, try to do good, treat others with respect, and all they get is shit in the face.

It may be another twenty years before the people of southeast kentucky make gains in knowldege and self-respect. The people who want to do the right things are afraid of the dirty politicians, and the people who want to do all the evil are afraid of all the good politicians. The Rick Nelson thing is an example. You have good man like Nelson in office too long, and evil decides that it has been long enough. So, with physical assassination out of style, the current trend is to destroy the politician with news, half true, then add to it to wipe him out.Virtually no one ever checks up on the newspaper's information. People simply read the news, believe it's true, and start spreading the gossip. Freedom of the press is a good thing, but more people should start bringing law suits against them, then
they will think twice about printing lies.

12:33 so you are saying Nelson did not leave that comment on the Bell County forum? You are saying it was a fabricated comment? You are saying he did not admit that he screwed up? You are saying he was tricked into voting no for that bill? You make some bold statements.

12:33 must be Nelson making excuses.

I am proud to be one of the 80% Nelson supporters who is upset with him not doing his own work and depending on a supposed friend. After all the mess of the Bush years, which have come close to destroying this country, capitalizing on a story like this is only normal for the opposing side. Now stay tuned, the Nelson supporters will bring this issue up every hour of every day until the next election. And I probably understand, because this is the nature of the beast. And if you want to get into politics, you better get your sword as well as your shield out. But it is also good advice to be careful where you walk, because there is a lot of shit out there, and even the good people step in it sometimes. Nelson has shit all over him, but he is still cleaning it off. Yes, 347, I am upset at Nelson, but I want an honest man in the office. That is never going to change, and Nelson is honest.

I am calling Nelson honesty into question. Shack is obviously a Nelson supporter and I gave gained some respect for Shack for exposing Nelson. But Shack hit on a point and I don't think he meant to. Combs and Alexander both voted against this bill. So you are saying all three Harlan reps voted against something that would have benefited Bell and Harlan because they depended on Smith to guide them? That is a crock of shit. I guess the rumors are true that Nelson secretly supported Smith in the Senate election if he is such a friend.

I live in Nelson's district and I will make damn sure he is smoked here. I am good for 100 voted maybe more.

P.s. to the mistake I made above, I of course meant the Nelson opponents will continue again and again to bring this up.
Hey, its politics, honest men from the beginning have made terrible mistakes.

531, you must be good at getting rid of assholes. I hope you use your 100 or so to get rid of the viruses growing in and around 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. You should have been talking when the idiot in the White House invaded Iraq. But how silly of me, he doesn't make mistakes, does he?

Got rid of one asshole on 2006. Hendrickson is gone.

Hendrickson will be back stronger than ever.
He had all that state-wide support without money or name. People like him and trust him. You need to take some lessons in being a man instead of an dick.

Bruce I have no problem beating you again. The next time you want a drink it will not be in Pineville, never in Pineville.

It is obvious that Bruce can speak for himself, as he does that quite well. As for my blogging here, whether I am kin to Bruce or just a good friend, it is very well known that he did not get beat, he got cheated out of the election. I do not believe anyone will ever get cheated again, because of the way the rats are hiding out and taking the nerve pills in fear of their day in court.
P.S. I know Bruce drinks beer, but he is not so ashamed that he runs across the state lines to hide like so many who were against the moist vote.

You live in Harrogate, Tn., and have the gall to run your neighbors down, what mentality. You mouthy dip-shit.
