How will the NEW KDP unite?
I will start this thread with a warning; How many Democratic chairs have been successful and ultimately left the position on top? Not many. I think this time will be different. First we have a young, well educated 2 time State Treasurer that can not only raise money, he can lead.
Jerry Lundergan's time is over and for our party to unite, I hope Jerry's friends in the party welcome Jonathan Miller with open arms and begin the healing process.
Democratic gubernatorial nominee Steve Beshear is a strong leader and with his course set, Jonathan can begin to focus on guiding the party toward the prize. We have the strongest slate of candidates in years and with Miller at the helm the KDP can rise from the ashes of defeat and regain the glory it so deserves.
I feel unsure about the future of our thing here in the blogsphere. Do I think The Rural Democrat can fill the void soon to be left by BGR? Absolutely NOT. It takes dedication beyond posting a few threads and waiting to see if anyone bites. It take a total dedication to the details of our dynamic political process in the Commonwealth and while I think we do OK, our talents are limited. We do the best we can do here and we try to be as straight forward as we can. And yes we are biased! We are biased in favor of a united Democratic Party, we are biased in favor of a STRONG Democratic Governor and we are all so selfish. We are selfish because we want Frankfort to be in the hands of Democrats PERIOD.
Governor Ernie Fletcher has not only split Frankfort into a few hundred pieces, he has split our Commonwealth. The healing started May 22nd and the ultimate cure will be in November. Steve Beshear is poised to CRUSH Governor Ernie Fletcher and I predict the "Straight Party buttons" on most voting machines will have to be replaced soon after the November election. I predict that those buttons will be pushed around 700,000 times in November.
First Jonathan Miller needs to reach out to all Democratic chairs and wipe the slate clean. Start fresh and new. If he can convince many of the chairs that his intention is not to clean house, I think our party can rebuild at a pace that will surprise even Jonathan Miller.

And yes we are biased! We are biased in favor of a united Democratic Party, we are biased in favor of a STRONG Democratic Governor and we are all so selfish. Well, that said, can you be biased for the working class. We need tax relief. We need meaningfull employment. We need real money that is worth something in the global economy. We need to export goods from Kentucky and the US, instead of importing poisoned goods from Communist China. Can you be biased in this direction????????

10:54 ~ with the Fantasy Plan Beshear has, you know the one that is at this time UNCONSTITUTIONAL, we will all be living in the Garden of Eden.
But in reality how is Beshear planning to pay for all those new & improved programs? Tax increase?

Rural Democrat CAN be a force in UNITING the Kentucky Democrats....
You can be a gracious winner
AND you can put aside the vitriol with which you painted with a broad brush too many people who had honest disagreements with you
Try criticizing Republicans, it isn't very hard, you know, there's a plethora of reasons and failed public policies
Those Democrats you were so harsh to criticize and very very necessary to see that Fletcher/Mitch/Bush et al are relegated to the dust bin of politcal failure ....

Hayes, I think it would be ill-advised of you to take pot shots at the republicans. I noticed in a previous thread during the ride to the Primary you wrote that it was ok to post hatred about Henry & Lunsford. You need to re-think that path.
Writing hatred about the republicans will not do you or your cause any favors.
Ignor the republicans and just write what Beshear is going to accomplish, period.
At this time, I am a democrat who will not vote for Beshear because he has played that ole dog game by putting Jonathan Miller and Jennifer Moore in as KDP chair & vice chair.
I resent he did that to Rep. Jenkins. She is an outstanding women. I resent the corrupt of Jonathan Miller.
Even though I will not vote for Beshear because of his affiliation with Miller, if you really want to look like a decent, real blog for the "common man" to come to for truth then you must stick to the truth and not have hatred articles.
Just a thought.

Hayes, I agree with leavewillya. It would not be in the dems best interest if you write hateful articles.
Sometimes the truth hurts and the truth is ugly. But, as long as you write the truth and don't put a slant of hatred in your blog will go far with the readers.
The last thing you want is even to come off with the appearance of being an untruthful blog that censors people, um, like the BGR.
I also am a democrat who is so disappointed in Beshear I am not sure I can vote for him. I don't think I can. I have known too many people who were attacked by the blog that Miller created.
That said, I believe in my party and my party platform. The only way you can help Beshear pull this off is by printing the FACTS not editorials necessarily, but facts about Fletcher & only FACTS about Beshear.
I do so like your style so far, with the exception of the bannings you have done. I hope you stop your banning and stick to facts.

Beshear will kick the crap out of Fletcher in the fall! All of the candidates will stump for B&M and ride the wave. No Republican is safe from this wave!

I agree so much with your post. I think ALL Democrats must unite! Our enemy is Ernie not each other, as the bully bluegrass blogger want us to believe. The Party should do all it can to elect Steve and Dan. Although, I believe Jerry was a great chair, I will do all I can to help Jonathan Miller. I don't want to be a Mark N. and try and hurt Dems. I support them instead, no matter where they were in Gov. race. It's all about helping our nominee become GOV. now. That is the Democrat thing to do!
